From its world-famous theme parks to its dynamic ecosystem, breathtaking beaches and aqua blue waters, Florida has become “the destination place”. Not just for tourists, but for those seeking to make Florida their permanent residence.
Our own journey brought us here more than 20 years ago. From our very first visit, we were hooked, and spent several years planning and setting ourselves up to make Florida our home.
In 2001, it finally happened. We made enough on the sale of our NJ home to pack up the kids, the cat and all our belongings to head south and completely start over. We had no jobs, and no security, but we had a little money in our pocket and a family member who needed a hand updating his home.
It was a win for all of us. Hubby and I had the know-how of home ownership and DIY, and his brother had a safe place for us to stay. We provided the help he needed for his first flip, and he provided us with a place to call home while working to establish our new lives.
We certainly learned a lot through the years and have a lot of interesting experiences to share. Many of which we really wish we knew about sooner. As you navigate through our site, our hope is that some of our experiences will help you along your own journey. Whether you are just thinking about making a move, recently took the plunge, or have been here a while, and want to compare notes, we welcome you to our site and hope you enjoy your stay.
